It is a must-visit destination for tourists coming to Beijing. In this article, I will introduce a detailed travel guide to the Summer Palace, including its history, major attractions, ticket prices, transportation, and recommended itineraries.

I. Introduction to the Summer Palace

The Summer Palace, located in the northwest suburbs of Beijing, is one of the largest and best-preserved imperial gardens in China. It was first constructed in 1750 during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty and served as a summer retreat for the imperial family. The garden combines natural landscapes with man-made structures, featuring hills, lakes, palaces, temples, and gardens. The Summer Palace covers an area of approximately 290 hectares, with a water area of about 220 hectares and a land area of about 70 hectares. It is known for its exquisite garden design, rich cultural heritage, and beautiful natural scenery, and is considered a masterpiece of Chinese garden art.

II. Major Attractions

The Summer Palace has numerous attractions, each with its unique charm and historical significance. Some of the main attractions include:

1. The Long Corridor

The Long Corridor is one of the most famous attractions in the Summer Palace. It stretches from the Hall of Benevolence and Longevity to the Stone Boat, with a total length of 728 meters. The corridor is decorated with colorful paintings depicting historical stories, myths, landscapes, and flowers. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Kunming Lake and the surrounding hills while appreciating the artistic charm of the paintings.

2. The Hall of Benevolence and Longevity

The Hall of Benevolence and Longevity was the main administrative building in the Summer Palace. It was used by the emperor to handle state affairs and hold important ceremonies. 3. The Tower of Buddhist Incense

The Tower of Buddhist Incense is a prominent architectural feature in the Summer Palace. It stands on a hilltop and offers a panoramic view of the entire garden. The tower has a height of 41 meters and consists of eight stories. Visitors can climb up to enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Kunming Lake, the Long Corridor, and other attractions.

The lake is surrounded by hills, gardens, and ancient buildings, creating a picturesque landscape. Visitors can take a boat tour on the lake to appreciate the beauty of the garden from a different perspective.

5. The Stone Boat

The Stone Boat is an artificial stone structure located at the end of the Long Corridor.
