Guan Shui Fa

This was where the emperor handled state affairs. Today, it offers a glimpse into history and a vantage point to admire the South Lake.

South Lake Scenic Area

The South Lake, the center of the Summer Palace, is surrounded by beautiful landscapes. You can take a boat tour to enjoy the lake views and visit attractions like琼hua岛, 蓬岛, and 瀛洲岛.

Changchun Garden

Known for its large water features, Changchun Garden's core buildings reflect the style of the Forbidden City's Ning Shou Palace. 5. Travel Tips

Plan Ahead

Research the Summer Palace's history to enhance your visit. Plan your route based on interests and time, ensuring you see all desired attractions.

Best Time to Visit

Spring and autumn are ideal for mild weather and beautiful scenery. Early mornings or evenings offer fewer crowds and better photo opportunities.

Sun Protection and Hydration

Given the park's size, use sunscreen, wear hats, and stay hydrated, especially in summer.

Food Options

There are food stands inside, but options are limited. Bring snacks and water. After exiting Zao Yuan Gate, fast-food restaurants like McDonald's and KFC are nearby, along with local restaurants in a nearby alley for more affordable meals.

6. Photography Tips

Choose the Right Angle

For iconic spots like Da Shui Fa and the Seventeen-Arch Bridge, shoot from a low angle to highlight their grandeur. Use side or diagonal angles at the Long Corridor and lotus pond for added depth.

Use Natural Elements for Composition

Frame shots using the Long Corridor, bridges, and trees to add layers and artistic appeal.

Capture Details

Focus on details like stone carvings, murals, and lotus leaves to showcase the Summer Palace's historical charm.

Help preserve the Summer Palace by not littering or damaging relics.
